Replacement Name Plate for Shimano Ultegra ST-6510 / 105 5510 / 105 R600 STI lever shifters dust cover (aftermarket, screws NOT included)

SKU: NAME_PLATE_ST-6510

Apparently everyone else who owns some version of a bike with Shimano Ultegra ST-6510, 105 ST-5510, or 105 ST-R600 shifters has a problem with a cracked or missing name plate. On one bike, both of my name plate covers were cracked, on the other one had cracked and then fallen off.

This replacement nameplate does _not_ come with replacement screws, though message me if you need help sourcing some and hopefully I can help. Custom color requests are potentially possible to match color schemes of your bicycle, depending on what raw material color filament I have in stock. One again, contact me if you are interested.

Description

My ST-6510 name plate cracked too

Apparently everyone else who owns some version of a bike with Shimano Ultegra ST-6510, 105 ST-5510, or 105 ST-R600 shifters has a problem with a cracked or missing name plate. On one bike, both of my name plate covers were cracked, on the other one had cracked and then fallen off.

With some helpful prodding from Roy, I set out to make a new shifter name plate for my Ultegra ST-6510 Flight Deck shifters and levers. It took about a dozen modeling iterations, but now I am happy with the design and result.

This replacement nameplate does _not_ come with replacement screws, though message me if you need help sourcing some and hopefully I can help. Custom color requests are potentially possible to match color schemes of your bicycle, depending on what raw material color filament I have in stock. One again, contact me if you are interested.

I have tested these on ST-6510 STI shifters/brifters You can check images to see if the screw mounts match. They have a single screw up top and a small tab at the base, and a mid-sized tab in the middle. I have not physically tested these on the ST-5510 or ST-R600, but as far as I can tell, they use identical name plates. Both Left and Right sides are the same for the name plates.

This is a new limited edition series that is still in its testing phase, so you can be one of the first to try it to give some feedback. It is not an official Shimano product.

About these name plates

If you’re wondering what the heck this is: basically it’s a small plastic cover that attaches to the front of a shifter lever (specific to the ST-6510, ST-5510, and ST-R600 models made by Shimano). The covers show the model name.  The ST-6510 specifically is for a 3×9-speed drivetrain has connections to the Flight Deck computer system, which I tried for a bit, but didn’t use too much. It was kind of nice to see gear position, I guess?

Now that it’s been many years since these were introduced (They were discontinued in 2007?) a lot of these plates have cracked due to impact, UV damage, etc. Some are missing completely. Mine had cracks, and similar shifters on another bike had missing name plates all together. A lot of the innards have gummed up in mine over time, requiring a spray of lubricant to to be able to shift to easier gears.  Oh well.
